The practical application of The Whole Community, Whole School, Whole Child (WSCC) model can support school communities to promote health and wellness. This training will ground Arizona School Health and Wellness Coalition (ASHWC) members in the WSCC model by working collaboratively in small groups to address the following issues identified by four Action Teams: Food and Nutrition, Physical Education & Physical Activity, Policy, and Mental & Behavioral Health. ASHWC members will review the Coalition’s mission, vision, and values, and then draft implementation plans to create, enhance, and sustain healthy school systems across the state. Now, more than ever, we need to name the effects the COVID-19 pandemic has on our students, families, school staff, and the community and create solutions that advance school health and wellness. ASHWC members will consider post COVID-19 recovery needs and incorporate those needs into their implementation plans. At the conclusion of this training, Action Teams will be prepared to finish drafting their implementation plans. This training is highly interactive, and group participation will be required. Come eager and prepared to brainstorm, collaborate with your peers, and apply the WSCC model to your work on the ASHWC.
